OREANDA-NEWS. May 20, 2010. DemirBank received "Silver" certificate for the social-oriented activities for the year 2009 from Microfinance Information Exchange Market Inc., reported the press-centre of DemirBank.

International information provider for microfinance sector Microfinance Information Exchange Market Inc. conducts an annual assessment of the social orientation of banks and microfinance institutions by 22 key parameters.

“Rewarding DemirBank with Honour Diploma is the result of successful activity of the Bank in supporting youth, namely, providing services for young people (free plastic cards for students abroad, etc), engaging them in the Bank, financing their masters education abroad, cooperating with youth organizations and educational institutions. Currently, along with updating the Bank's strategy over the next 3 years, DemirBank also develops a strategy for corporate social responsibility”  – stated Yusif Jabbarov, deputy Chairman of the Execute Board

DemirBank collaborates with more than 15 international microfinance institutions which attach great importance to the social orientation of the Bank, and the certificate clearly demonstrates this.

It should be noted that DemirBank for first time in Azerbaijan had received a social rating from international rating agency Planet Rating.  DemirBank was awarded an Honorary Diploma in the “Money-Credit and Banking Services“ category at the ceremony of 5 year anniversary of State Program for Socio-Economic Development of Regions and also DemirBank was awarded an Honorary Diploma in the “Money-Credit and Banking Services“ category at the ceremony of 5 year anniversary of State Program for Socio-Economic Development of Regions.

One of the first banks in Azerbaijan DemirBank (former name Azerdemiryolbank) started its activity in 1989. The shareholders of Bank include large international financial institutions, such as European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and Netherlands Development Finance Company (FMO).
