IMF Mission Started Its Work in Lithuania
OREANDA-NEWS. May 18, 2010. The Mission of the European Department of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) headed by Catriona Purfield started its work in Lithuania. The first meeting of the members of the mission was held with the Chairman of the Board of the Bank of Lithuania Reinoldijus Sarkinas, reported the press-centre of Bank of Lithuania.
“This is a regular IMF mission in preparations for yearly consultations of Lithuania with the IMF. The members of the mission will analyse the macroeconomic and financial stability, and assess the operation of the banks, development of the whole economy and projections. These were the subjects of our dialogue”, said Reinoldijus Sarkinas.
Further meetings are planned with the experts of the Bank of Lithuania and representatives of the Ministry of Finance, other public institutions and the private sector. The IMF mission will continue its work until 25 May.
The IMF and Lithuania cooperate on grounds of economic consultations under Article IV of the Articles of Agreement of the IMF.
Lithuania has been a member country of the IMF since 1992. Currently, the IMF has 186 member countries.
