RTS Released Stock Market Weekly Trading Results

OREANDA-NEWS. May 17, 2010. Over the week of May 4 – May 7, 2010, the RTS Index went down by 12.90% to reach 1,369.91 points (1,572.84 points as of April 30, 2010). Most of the negative impact on the RTS Index dynamics was related to the falling prices for ordinary shares of OJSC "MMC "NORILSK NICKEL" (GMKNS) (down 30.98 points) followed by ordinary shares of Sberbank (SBERS) (down 29.35 points) and ordinary shares of Gazprom (GAZPS) (down 28.52 points).

The RTS Standard Index, the blue chips index, lost 9.57% to reach 8,872.6 points (9,811.96 points as of April 30, 2010). The "second-tier" stock index – RTS-2 experienced a decrease of 11.02% closing at 1,711.01 points (1,922.99 points as of April 30, 2010). Last week all the key economy sectors represented on the Russian stock market demonstrated a negative trend. The largest decline was reported by the financial sector, with the RTS Finances Index shedding 15.02%. A significant decrease was also shown by the power sector, with the RTS Electric Utilities Index shrinking by 14.65%.

Last week the US dollar appreciated by 3.44% against the ruble to reach 30.3 rubles per US dollar (29.29 rubles as of April 30, 2010).

The total securities trading volume on RTS for the week May 4 – May 7, 2010 equaled USD9.79 billion (289.9 billion rubles*), including all types of trades. The trading volume on RTS Standard totaled USD2,100.54 million.

The week's top sellers were Sberbank ordinary shares (SBER) with a turnover of USD831.94 million followed by Gazprom ordinary shares (GAZP) with a turnover of USD583.74 million and ordinary shares of ОАО "LUKOIL" (LKOH) with a turnover of USD254.53 million. The share of each security in the total trading volume made up 38.38%, 26.93% and 11.74% respectively.

The week's top gainers were ordinary shares of OJSC "Seligdar" (SELG) that went up by 0.54% to USD0.563.

The week's top losers were preferred shares of Transneft (TRNFP) that fell in price by 26.09% to reach USD850 followed by ordinary shares of SOLLERS OJSC (SVAV) that lost 23.18% to reach USD13.75 and ordinary shares of O.J.S.C. "Uralsvyazinform" (URSI) that shed 22.31% to reach USD0.0282.
