Azeri Oil Transportation via BTC Reaches Five-Month Maximum
OREANDA-NEWS. May 11, 2010. The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) has renewed statistical data on Azerbaijani oil export via the major pipeline Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) named after Heydar Aliyev.
Oil transportation via BTC increased this April by 0.6%.
SOCAR informs that 3.1 million tons of Azeri oil was delivered via BTC to Turkey’s Ceyhan port against 3.08 million tons in March, 2.678 million in February, 3.04 million tons in January 2010 and 2.8 million tons in December 2009.
“In January to April, 2010 oil pumping via BTC totaled 11.9 million tons,” it was informed.
In 2009, transportation totaled 36.2 million tons and the last year’s highest figures were registered in May and June (by 3.3 million tons).
From the very start of the BTC operation in mid-2006 till 1st May 2010 118.4 million tons were delivered via BTC to Ceyhan.
For comparison: in April 2010 shipping from Ceyhan port made up 3.1 million tons and over the third part of the year – 11.5 million tons. From the very start of BTC operation till 1st May 2010 export from Ceyhan totaled 116.1 million tons.
