OREANDA-NEWS. May 11, 2010. The 8th Annual National IT Leader Prize award ceremony took place in Moscow. It is the only prize awarded for information technologies achievements in Russia. TNK-BP was declared laureate in the “Oil and Gas Companies” nomination. Richard Ames, Vice-President, IT, TNK-BP, was recognized at the award ceremony for his role in the creation of an advanced IT system in the company, reported the press-centre of TNK-BP.

The IT Leader Prize is awarded to companies representing the leading branches of the Russian economy and to government organizations that demonstrated excellence in their systemic approaches toward information technologies as well as in implementing socially significant projects aimed at improving business efficiency and standards of living in the society. In 2010 over 500 companies and organizations took part in the competition.

“The development of corporate information technologies is rooted in one clear objective – to ensure efficient execution of business tasks by way of implementing innovative technologies of information exchange, ensuring greater information protection and creating more comfortable working conditions for people. Over the last year we implemented a number of infrastructure projects for TNK-BP. For instance, we created standard IT infrastructure and software solutions that enabled us to significantly cut time and financial costs for the company. We also accomplished large-scale deployment of computing resource virtualization technologies, which enabled us to significantly reduce ownership costs with respect to the Group’s IT infrastructure. We also continued implementing strategic initiatives based on a single ERP system, including large-scale business process re-engineering projects with subsequent automation and integration into a single information space. In this respect the fact that we received the most prominent national award for implementing innovative technologies in TNK-BP means that the efforts and talents of our company’s team of IT specialists have been truly recognized”, said Richard Ames.
