In the framework of meeting of chairman of Government of the RF Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister of Italy Silvio Berlusconi in Lesmo (Milan) Boris Kovalchuk, acting chairman of Board of administration of JSC "INTER RAO UES" and Fulvio Conti, Chief Executive Director of "ENEL", signed Memorandum of intentions on cooperation in the area of nuclear power industry, power supply, construction and reconstruction of power plants and other objects of electric energy sector, technological innovations, energy efficiency, as well as power sale activity both in Russia and in Eastern Europe countries.

The set forth intention to analyze project of Baltic NPP construction in Kaliningrad is represented as especially significant which is the first example of partnership of the state and private sectors in nuclear power industry of Russia. The NPP will consist of two units of 1,170 MW capacity each, and will function under the third generation technology WWER 1200. Startup procedures of the two units are planned respectively for 2016 and 2018, taking into account certain share of electric power for export to markets of neighboring European countries. "INTER RAO UES" will provide the conditions for attraction of foreign investors to project of Baltic NPP, as well as sale of electric energy and power at markets of the third countries. "ENEL" will study engineering, economic, legal and other aspects of project of NPP construction with the purpose of making decision on its participation and determining of conditions of participation in the project as co-investor.

JSC "INTER RAO UES" is a dynamically developing electric power company that controls a number of generating and distribution power assets in Russia and abroad. 57.3% of authorized capital of the company is property of State Corporation "Rosatom" and JSC "Concern Rosenergoatom", that are companies which directly carry out construction and management of nuclear power industry objects. In this connection, "INTER RAO UES" is much interested in strengthening of its positions in the area of nuclear electric power generation.

The main task set for JSC "INTER RAO UES" is arrangement of transboundary supplies of electric power, provision of consumers in the country and abroad with it, efficient investment activity, enlargement of offered services range. The company sequentially implements energy-related strategy of Russia on reformation of electric power branch of the RF by means of improvement of trading operations profitability, as well as extension of sales markets and spheres of its activity.
