RTS Released Stock Market Weekly Trading Results

OREANDA-NEWS. May 5, 2010. Over the week of April 26 – April 30, 2010, the RTS Index went down by 1.88% to reach 1,572.84 points (1,602.99 points as of April 23, 2010). Most of the negative impact on the RTS Index dynamics was related to the falling prices for ordinary shares of Sberbank (SBERS) (down 14.53 points) followed by ordinary shares of Gazprom (GAZPS) (down 5.72 points) and ordinary shares of ОАО "LUKOIL" (LKOHS) (down 3.28 points).

The RTS Standard Index, the blue chips index, lost 2.39% to reach 9,811.96 points (10,052.71 points as of April 23, 2010). The "second-tier" stock index – RTS-2 experienced a decrease of 1.22% closing at 1,922.99 points (1,946.73 points as of April 23, 2010). Last week all the key economy sectors represented on the Russian stock market demonstrated a negative trend. The largest decline was reported by the financial sector, with the RTS Finances Index shedding 1.96%. A significant decrease was also shown by the oil & gas sector, with the RTS Oil & Gas Index shrinking by 1.90%. Only the metals & mining sector demonstrated an uptrend, with the RTS Metals & Mining Index growing by 0.93%.

Last week the US dollar appreciated by 0.55% against the ruble to reach 29.29 rubles per US dollar (29.13 rubles as of April 23, 2010).

The total securities trading volume on RTS for the week April 26 – April 30, 2010 equaled USD11.89 billion (347.3 billion rubles*), including all types of trades. The trading volume on RTS Standard totaled USD2,180.93 million.

The week's top sellers were Sberbank ordinary shares (SBER) with a turnover of USD1,051.99 million followed by Gazprom ordinary shares (GAZP) with a turnover of USD554.99 million and ordinary shares of ОАО "LUKOIL" (LKOH) with a turnover of USD222.41 million. The share of each security in the total trading volume made up 47.03%, 24.81% and 9.94% respectively.

The week's top gainers were ordinary shares of "VSMPO-AVISMA Corporation" (VSMO) that went up by 16.24% to USD136 followed by ordinary shares of OJSC "ROSINTER RESTAURANTS HOLDING" (ROST) – by 12.50% to USD18 and ordinary shares of ОАО "VEROPHARM" (VRPH) – by 5.96% to reach USD40.

The week's top losers were ordinary shares of JSC "INTER RAO UES" (IRAO) that fell in price by 21.05% to reach USD0.00165 followed by ordinary shares of SOLLERS OJSC (SVAV) that lost 7.01% to reach USD17.9 and ordinary shares of Open Joint-Stock Company "DIXY GROUP" (DIXY) that shed 6.72% to reach USD11.1.
