OREANDA-NEWS. May 05, 2010. The document was signed in the Georgian Government Office in presence of this country’s prime minister Niki Gilauri. The Azerbaijani minister visited Georgia to participate in Azerbaijan-Georgia Business Forum.

Bilateral negotiations on the WTO were finished three years ago, but the protocol signing was postponed because of “lack of convenient ground”. This week the Ministry of Economic Development of Azerbaijan claimed that the country would need two or three years for registration of membership in the WTO.

In such case the negotiation process will take 16 years that is far from “anti-record” of Russia (over 20 years). But Azerbaijan is still far from completion of bipartite talks with such “whales” as WTO, the U.S. and the European Union, and today it would be hastily to make any date forecasts on the occasion of entering the WTO.
