OREANDA-NEWS. May 05, 2010. SORAINEN Latvia successfully represented the interests of the Latvian subsidiary of leading global freight service provider DHL in an insolvency case groundlessly initiated against the client by the administrator of an insolvent Latvian company, reported the press-centre of SORAINEN.

A client of DHL Latvia claimed losses which DHL Latvia has never admitted. The court found that the insolvency application was groundless and terminated the insolvency procedure initiated against DHL Latvia. According to SORAINEN Latvia partner Girts Ruda, “It is notable that the court carefully analysed all the circumstances of the case and concluded that the insolvency procedure could not be used for collecting debts.

In these times of crisis, this serves as a warning to businesses in Latvia that if they face claims for debt or initiation of insolvency procedure they should promptly consider further steps and act with special caution to avoid negative consequences”. DHL Latvia interests in the matter were defended by partner Girts Ruda and senior associate Edgars Briedis.
