OREANDA-NEWS. May 04, 2010. Belarus has presented its best technologies and the best line of tractors at the AgroBalt 2010 international expo, Prime Minister of Belarus Sergei Sidorsky said at an opening ceremony of the exhibition in Vilnius, reported the Official website http://www.government.by.

The head of government named the agricultural engineering development as priority for the Belarusian-Lithuanian cooperation.

“In the most difficult time of 2009 the economy of Lithuania and Belarus were able to integrate and supported each other through creating new jobs. It is a good sign that the agrarians of the two countries have been working together on developing high-technology products and supporting each other with highly liquid agricultural equipment,” the Premier said.

At the exhibition Belarus has featured its best agricultural tractors which are exported to more than 180 countries.

According to Sergei Sidorsky, the development of the agricultural engineering is vital for producing highly liquid products. The Belarusian head of government stressed that the country has been recovering from the crisis with confidence. The agricultural output made the growth of 6% during the crisis year of 2009; the figure has already exceeded 5% this year.

“Belarus is ready to present its neighbor Lithuania its best technologies, the best samples of the Belarusian agricultural vehicles,” the head of government said. President of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaite noted at the opening ceremony of the exhibition that the Lithuanian agriculture accounts for 8% of the country’s total output. According to her, “Lithuania takes pride in its high-quality grain and meat”.

The AgroBalt 2010 international exhibition of agriculture and food industry is the biggest in the Baltic region. It was first held in the LITEXPO Center in 1993. The exhibition aims to strengthen the regional cooperation, equal development of the rural regions, increase the competitive ability of the agricultural and food sectors, stimulate the small and medium-sized business in the rural area.

Prime Minister Sergei Sidorsky is attending the exhibition together with the President of Lithuania, the Agriculture Minister of Lithuania and the EU Commissar for Agriculture and Rural Development.
