OREANDA-NEWS. April 30, 2010. Almaty (Alma-Ata). April 27. “GDP growth amounted to 6.6%, in Kazakhstan in January-March this year in comparison with the same period in 2009,” President Nursultan Nazarbayev said.

 “In the first quarter of this year, Kazakhstan's GDP increased by 6.6%, (...) and the volume of production increased by a half times, the income level of population grew by 14 times,” Nursultan Nazarbayev said, speaking at the 9th Eurasian Media Forum on Tuesday in Almaty.

 “Kazakhstan, along with other countries has passed a serious test of the global crisis. Meanwhile, we took a good anti crisis measures. We did not ask for help from international financial organizations. We used our accumulated funds,” he stressed.

Kazakhstan's GDP increased by 1.2% in 2009.

According to the latest data of the Government of Kazakhstan, the republic's GDP growth will be 2% this year. However, the forecast of GDP growth will be revised upwards in 2010, Minister of Economic Development and Trade Zhanar Aitzhanova stated.
