Tugnuy Truck Fleet Accommodates New Belaz
OREANDA-NEWS. April 29, 2010. The Tugnuy surface mine has put into operation a Belaz-74306 haulage truck supplied as part of an investment program. The new machine will help to remove disabled 220 ton mine dump trucks from the pit.
Based on the Belaz-75306 dump truck model, this vehicle weighing 156 tons is capable of transporting disabled dump trucks with the load capacity ranging from 130 to 230 tons inclusive to a service area in various weather conditions using haul roads. Its rated load capacity is 75 tons for the lower gripper and 92 tons for the upper gripper. Such operations are possible with a modern 2,332 h.p. CUMMINS QSK 60-C engine installed on the hauler. Besides, the new haulage truck is designed to protect its driver by means of ROPS against vehicle rollovers and by means of FOPS against falling objects, if any. Grippers may be attached either to the front frame in front or to the platform at the back of a dump truck undergoing removal.
Availability of a remote panel for controlling the working equipment is a substantial advantage. It enables the operator to watch a dump truck being lifted and locked during coupling to the haulage truck.
In addition, the haulage truck is equipped with attachments enabling safe travel and connection to systems of disabled vehicles to be removed. Specifically, the haulage truck has couplers to connect to the dumping system of a towed truck to unload it and then haul to a service area. Even a disabled dump truck with a stopped engine can be 'forced' to empty its dump body by the hauler. The new hauler can also unlock the rear axle of a disabled dump truck and tow it along after gripping its front part.
