OREANDA-NEWS. April 30, 2010. In Q1 2010, OJSC Samotlorneftegaz increased associated gas transportation volumes by 5% y-o-y, the press-centre of TNK-BP reported.

This happened due to a significant number of activities aimed at maintaining operability of the pipeline network, which is currently 840 km long. In operational environment characterized by extremely low temperatures, timely prevention of hydrate formation and process liquid release from gas pipelines have allowed for above-target delivery of the business-plan regarding gas transportation from oil treatment and pumping sites of the Nizhnevartovsk Region oil and gas production subsidiaries  to gas processing facilities of LLC “Yugragazpererabotka”.

In March 2010, primary verification (audit) was performed at the subsidiary in terms of greenhouse gases emissions reduction within the framework of the Samotlor Field Gas Gathering project. The audit was performed by the Bureau Veritas Certification independent expert organization. Results of operating the first new vacuum compressor stations (VCS) commissioned in 2009 were reviewed.

This project made it possible to reduce the CO2-equivalent emissions by 199,992 tons in 2009 as a result of significant decrease in associated petroleum gas flaring at the second and end separation and utilization stages at GPP VCS. The Senior Verifier of Bureau Veritas Certification has confirmed the declared ERUs (Emission Reduction Units) and highly commended the joint project implementation and quality of monitoring within the framework of the Kyoto agreement.
