Romania Grants Moldova EUR100 mln
OREANDA-NEWS. April 28, 2010. The agreement has been signed in Bucharest within the official visit to Romania of temporary acting as president of Moldova Mihai Ghimpu. According to the document, the Romanian gratuitous financial aid will be allocated to Moldova within 4 years, beginning with 2010, and 25 million euro tranches will be given by four equal annual parts.
These funds are intended for implementing in Moldova projects on development of infrastructure, reparation of roads and modernization of schools in rural settlements. Specific projects financed from the funds of the Romanian grant will be determined in development of the program of cooperation on the basis of the signed agreement.
Temporary acting as president Mihai Ghimpu at a joint briefing with the president of Romania Traian Basescu has noted the importance and timeliness of the allocated Romanian aid, having emphasized that present authorities have recieved from former governors heavy inheritance and destroyed rural infrastructure. It is planned that the first tranche of the Romanian grant in amount of 25 million euro will come to Moldova in 2010.
First the intention of Romania to give Moldova grant in amount of 100 million euro was declared in Chisinau by the president of Romania Traian Basescu after the meeting on January 27 with the temporary acting as president of Moldova Mihai Ghimpu and the session of official delegations of two countries.
