Azerbaijan to Toughen Control Over Foods of Poor Quality
OREANDA-NEWS. April 28, 2010. Committee’s chairman Ramiz Hasanov said that the session was linked with discussion and solution of issues following the task orders of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev made at the Cabinet Ministers’ session.
“The President has set before the Committee a challenge to ensure the country’s population with quality food products. Or that it is necessary to impose a grave ban for sale of food of poor quality, toughen control and take measures to prevent import of defective goods in the country,” Hasanov said.
He also focused on importance of faster building of online network for operative use of the Fund of Standards established in Baku and bring its technical conditions in accord with European ones.
“Use of European standards is quite an important factor in provision of much wider access to foreign market for local producers and strengthening country’s export potential in the area of food products. Currently we are conducting laboratory surveys of microbiological indicators of food products on the basis of ISO standards. But composition of goods should also be covered by other parameters, and that is why we need to discuss issues of applying European standards in the Azerbaijani Institute of Standards,” Hasanov said.
