Power Machines Conducts Trial Run of New Thermal Power Plant
OREANDA-NEWS. April 26, 2010. Jyvaskyla Thermal Power Plant (city of Jyvaskyla, Finland) has completed a trial run of its power unit, provided with equipment manufactured by Power Machines OJSC.
In 2007 Power Machines and the municipal council of Jyvaskyla singed a contract having a value in excess of 20 million Euros for supplying power generating equipment for the construction of a thermal power plant. The project is being realized through a consortium between Power Machines and its traditional partner in Finland, Energico OY Company, which supplies auxiliary equipment and performs installation works. The scope of liability of Power Machines includes design, manufacture, supply and supervision during the installation of a steam turbine, auxiliary equipment and a 200 MW turbogenerator.
The latest technical innovations by Power Machines design offices have been used to create this steam turbine. In particular, a concept of reactive HPC blading has been employed in this turbine design. Previously this type of blading was used in more powerful turbines (300 MW) at Konakovskaya HPP, Uong Bi TPP (Vietnam) and Konaseema TPP (India). Power Machines has also manufactured for the Finnish TPP a turbogenerator with air cooling, which is one of the safest types of cooling for electrical machines. These particular technical solutions aroused interest of Finnish customers and were, to a certain extend, the reason why Power Machines had been chosen as the supplier of turbines and generators.
After the completion of testing in different operational modes of the turbine, which is scheduled to the end of May, Jyvaskyla TPP will be brought into commercial operation.
At present, besides the construction project of Jyvaskyla TPP, Power Machines are engaged in the modernization project of Loviisa NPP in Finland, for which the specialists of Petersburg Power Engineering Group carry out works on modernization of two stators, each having a capacity of 250 MW.
