OREANDA-NEWS. April 26, 2010. A conference titled Manufacturer's Service as the Most Important Factor of Operational Security for Power Generating Equipment was held by Power Machines OJSC. It was attended by representatives of the State Duma and Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation, Russian Federal Service for Ecological, Technological and Atomic Supervision (Rostechnadzor), Russian Federal Agency for Technical Regulation and Metrology (Rostechregulirovanie), RusHydro JSC, OGKs and TGKs, heads of power plants and repair facilities, including specialists from abroad.

During the conference the participants discussed principles of conducting technical inspection and servicing the operating power plant equipment, made proposals on the procedure of conducting technical inspections agreed upon with the manufacturers and servicing the power generating equipment under operation. This would help to prevent possible emergency situations in future and to ensure uninterrupted supply of the consumers with thermal and electrical power.

The basic idea, which united the conference participants, was that the technical examination of operating power plant equipment must be carried out with the help of manufacturers.

Igor Kostin, Director General of Power Machines OJSC, said that the principles of technical inspection and servicing the operating power plants had not been till now defined in the Russian Federation from the point of view of legislation and regulations, whereas timely technical examination of the power generating equipment is the most important factor of its operational security.

The conference participants appreciated a good technical level of the production facilities and a high rate of innovation development at Power Machines OJSC, offering service packages for turbine and generator modernization, aimed to improve the reliability and efficiency of these units.
