OREANDA-NEWS. April 23, 2010. The Azerbaijan State Customs Committee (SCC) informs that for Jan-Mar 2010 country’s cotton export totaled of 151.87% of the Jan-Mar 2009 index and earnings from export grew by 11.9%. For Jan-Mar of the year.

Azerbaijan exported 1,787.7 tons of cotton that made up 0.05% (USD 2.2 million) of country’s overall export (USD4.509 bn). Export of cotton for Jan-Mar 2009 was carried out at the price of USD 1,238.91 per ton.

This March it was exported 980.9 tons of cotton for USD 1.2 million at average price of USD 1,266.49 per ton (versus 353 tons for USD 401,300 at USD 1,136.83 per ton in February).

In January 2010 when cotton export reached 367044% of export for January 2009 and earning fro its export rose 5.432-fold it was exported 453.8 tons of cotton for USD 571,200 tons at price of USD 1,258.772 per ton.

In 2009, the country exported 17,371 tons of cotton for USD 17.358 million that made up 119.27% of production export indices over 2008. Last December, export totaled 795.9 tons for USD 890,900.

Last year cotton export from the country made up 0.12% of total export of Azerbaijan.

In 2009, Azerbaijan exported cotton on average at price USD 999.25 per ton, but in December the price was USD 1,119.36.
