OREANDA-NEWS. April 21, 2010. Specialists of IDGC of Centre, JSC took part in the work of the International conference on labor safety and protection in power industry SAPE 2010 that was being held in Moscow. The event was organised by Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation within the framework of implementation of the state energy policy.

Representatives of Ministry of Energy, Ministry of Public Health and Social Development, the largest power companies of Russia spoke at the conference. Valery Bubnov’s report on improvement of first aid treatment rules at accidents, who had supervised the development of the robot-simulator Gosha in the early 1990’s, was of a special interest. Participants of the conference discussed issues of applicability of the current safety rules and standards in power industry, technical regulations as well as new approach to risk management that took into account economic component of labor protection.

Among the principal directions of activity on labor protection system improvement of IDGC of Centre, JSC are the following: providing of personnel with personal protective equipment, equipping of field service teams with technical devices that allow localizing them, procurement of labor protection service employees, mechanics and heads of subdivisions with breath alcohol detectors for application when checking working places and systematic control.

Dmitry Smirnov, Head of the Division for labor protection and safety of IDGC of Centre, JSC, noted: “The primary objective of our Company is creation of safety labor conditions, absolute preservation of employees’ life and health. To achieve this goal the program on injury risk reduction has been developed and is being implemented in IDGC of Centre. It has already brought the first results: last year the level of general injury rate in the Company reduced more than twice compared with 2008. One more result is that last year there were no any cases of occupational diseases among employees of the Company”.

Show of overall and personal protective equipment (PPE) for work at height was held within the framework of the conference. Many companies – suppliers of IDGC of Centre, JSC that presented a series of product innovations which included antiencephalitic clothing, heat-resistant coat, high-strength shirts and gloves – participated in the exhibition.

We are constantly following new technologies in the field of personal protective equipment and purchasing them for employees of the Company”, — Dmitry Smirnov remarked.
