Cargo Turnover at Nakhodka Port up 4.5% in 1Q 2010
OREANDA-NEWS. April 20, 2010. Trade flows through the port of Nakhodka in the first quarter increased by 4.5% compared with the same period of 2009, to 3.98 million tons. The Port Authority statistics show a 64-percent surge in volumes of coal, coke, anthracite, charge, at 597.000 tons, a 14% rise over Q1,09 in timber, to 191.700 tons (including 126.300 tons of round timber and 65.400 tons of lumber), ferrous metals rose by 5.3% to 1.3 million tons. The Port reports oil products slightly fell to 1.71 million tons, volumes of handled non-ferrous metals dropped by 26%, to 73.600 tons.
The Port's container throughput rose as much as 1.8 times, to 2.370 TEUs.
Russian Port of Nakhodka is located in the northern Bay of Nakhodka. The year-round navigable Port is connected via Trans-Siberian Railroad with the railway network of Russia and Western Europe.
