TEO Net Profit for 1Q of 2010 Amounts to LTL 43 Million
OREANDA-NEWS. April 19, 2010. The total consolidated revenue of TEO LT, AB Group, the largest provider of integrated telecommunication, IT and TV services in Lithuania, during the first quarter of 2010 amounted to LTL 192 million, and net profit for the period amounted to LTL 43 million. The Company’s EBITDA for the first three months of 2010 was LTL 81.4 million, EBITDA margin – 42.4 per cent. The Company’s strong financial position will make it possible to increase investments in the development of the next generation fiber-optic network all over Lithuania.
Last year, TEO revenue for the first three months amounted to LTL 205.2 million, EBITDA – LTL 94 million, EBITDA margin – 45.8 per cent, and net profit of the Company amounted to LTL 43.5 million.
“Despite the general telecommunications market contraction, TEO produced strong results this year. Although revenue for the first quarter was down by 6.4 per cent as compared to the first quarter of 2009, the Company secured similar net profitability”, - Arыnas Рikрta, General Manager of TEO, said when commenting on the activity results.
According to him, the Company’s continued investments in the next generation fiber-optic communication network have enabled it to offer the fastest in the country Internet access services and to increase the number of customers using them. “The Company is planning even higher investments in FTTH (Fiber to the Home) technology than in 2009”, - A. Shikshta said.
The Company’s share of revenue from Internet and data communications services from total amount of revenue for the first three months of 2010 amounted to 33.8 per cent, voice telephony services – 54.9 per cent. The share of revenue from television services from total amount of revenue for the first three months of 2010 amounted to 4.5 per cent, IT services – 3.7 per cent and other services – 3.1 per cent.
Over the last 12 months, the number of the Company’s television service users increased by almost 37 per cent and at the end of March amounted to 108.5 thousand. The number of broadband Internet access users increased by 5 per cent – up to 319.3 thousand. The total number of main telephone lines in service at the end of March amounted to 711.2 thousand.
According to the data of the Communications Regulatory Authority of the Republic of Lithuania for the fourth quarter of 2009, the Company’s share of the Internet access services market in terms of revenue amounted to 39.3 per cent, while in terms of revenue from data communications services TEO market share was 70.2 per cent. TEO market share in terms of revenue from fixed telephony services in the fourth quarter of 2009 was 94.3 per cent.
During the first three months of 2010 the Company allocated LTL 19.1 million for investments. The majority of investments (LTL 13.9 million) went to expansion of the core network and development of the next generation fiber-optic access network. The remaining part was invested in the development of IT systems and in the renovation of premises. In March, TEO opened a new and the largest customer care centre in the micro-district Sheshkine in Vilnius.
TEO Group consists of the parent company, TEO LT, AB, and its subsidiaries: Lintel, Baltic Data Center, Kompetencijos Ugdymo Centras and Verslo Investicijos. TEO is the sole founder and owner of a non-profit organisation VshI TEO Sportas. Baltic Data Center has a subsidiary UAB Interdata and a subsidiary in Latvia – Baltic Data Center SIA.
