OREANDA-NEWS. April 16, 2010. The tragedy in the village of Kyzylagash of Almaty oblast that took place on 12 March 2010, when thousands of people suffered from the dam break, could not leave anyone indifferent. Over 70% of the village was destroyed and people were left without roof and the rest of their property.

The staff of JSC “KazTransOil” together with many other major Kazakhstan companies did not stand aside from the misfortune of those who stayed without shelter and collected over 20 million tenge for assistance the sufferers of the disaster. Presently the village is being intensively restored, 450 residences are being built, 17 are being repaired, and foundations of more than 20 new residences have already been completed.

The funds raised by employees of KTO will be transferred to the State Department on Administration of mobilization preparation, civil defense, organization of prevention and elimination of accidences and natural disasters of the Almaty Oblast for assistance to the villagers in immediate restoration of houses and households.
