President Yanukovych Meets with World Bank President Zoellick
OREANDA-NEWS. April 16, 2010. In Washington Presidnet Viktor Yanukovych met with World Bank President Robert Zoellick, reported the Official website president.gov.ua.
Making comments on the meeting for the media President Yanukovych said that they have discussed prospects of cooperation between Ukraine and the World Bank under the two programs totaling about USD850 million.
"Firstly, it is the preparation of cooperation between Ukraine and the World Bank. There are two programs, the first of which we estimate to date at about USD 500 million, and second at about USD 350 million", said Viktor Yanukovych.
In addition, he said, the subject of using reserved resources was raised. These are about USD 1.2 billion that Ukraine has already used under a number of programs, but these funds were not processed properly.
Viktor Yanukovych and Robert Zoellick also discussed investment projects, whose implementation in Ukraine would interest the World Bank.
"We have discussed providing loans to business, municipal development program and the investment agency within its framework” he said.
According to the President, cooperation between Ukraine and the World Bank is beneficial for both parties, because our state is a shareholder of the institution.
Viktor Yanukovych also expressed the opinion that given the World Bank's role in overcoming consequences of global financial recession the cooperation with Ukraine could be interesting for it in terms of increasing the statutory fund.
"Certainly, as shareholders, we expect that the World Bank will be increasing the loans”, he said.
