OREANDA-NEWS. April 12, 2010. The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) continues carrying out work to  modernize the country’s  gas transportation system.

SOCAR informs that on April 13 from  10.00 am to 15.00 pm gas transportation will be suspended via main pipeline in connection with liquidation of Gabala compressor station. In addition, gas transportation will be stopped via Mozdok-Gazimagomed gas pipeline (SOCAR exports gas via this gas pipeline to Russia) during a day. During this time gas supply to Gabala and Davachi districts will be halted.

Since January 1, 2010, SOCAR has started natural gas export to Russia in compliance with a contract with Gazprom. In this period supplies have increased from 1.5 million cu m to 3 million cu m per day. In 2010, 1 billion cu m of gas will be delivered and 2 billion cu m – in 2011.
