OREANDA-NEWS. April 12, 2010. In the 1st quarter of 2010 the stevedoring companies of the group “Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg” handled over 2.5 mln tons of cargoes which is by 28% more than in 2009.

Significant growth in performance occurred due to the increase of the export cargo volumes- in comparison with the 1st quarter of 2009 export cargo flow increased by 38%.

In particular, the handling volumes of mineral fertilizers increased 5 times (113 000 tons), handling volumes of coal increased by 60% (902 000 tons), handling volumes of pig iron increased from 5 up to 105 000 tons.

Import cargo flow decreased by 15 %. Within the 1st quarter there was a reduction of the volumes of general cargoes, in particular metals, - by 36% (18 thousand tons), reefer cargoes – by 45% (49 thousand tons). Handling volumes of containers reduced by 57% (10 thousand tons). Handling volumes of loose and bulk cargoes decreased by 28% up to 139 thousand tons.

 “First Stevedoring Company” handled 1 mln. tons (+26% in comparison with the first quarter of 2009); “Second Stevedoring Company” handled  0.4 mln. tons of cargoes, which corresponds to the same figure of the prior reporting period.

Car terminal on the territory of the Third Stevedoring Company handled about 2.2 thousand of import cars.

“Fourth Stevedoring Company” decreased its performance indicators by 17% - to 0.6 mln. tons of cargoes due to the construction on its territory of the 1st stage of container terminal.

Ro-ro terminal of the “First Stevedoring Company” handled 130 thousand tons of ro-ro cargoes within the period from January to March. 

“Multipurpose Reloading Complex” in Ust-Luga handled approximately 460 thousand tons of cargoes.
