OREANDA-NEWS. April 12, 2010. OAO TATNEFT and OAO Mobile TeleSystems signed an agreement on cooperation in the area of providing radio-wire communication for facilities of TATNEFT in the territory of the Republic of Tatarstan, reported the press-centre of TATNEFT.

The agreement on cooperation between OAO Tatneft and OAO MTS was signed today at the tripartite meeting of R.N. Minnikhanov, President of the Republic of Tatarstan, Sh.F. Takhautdinov, General Director of OAO TATNEFT and M.V. Shamolin, President of MTS. The cooperation is aimed at the integration of telecom technologies into the Company’s business processes, development of communication networks in the remote areas of the Republic to provide communications between the facilities of TATNEFT, which will have a positive impact on the Company’s activity.

Collaboration between TATNEFT and MTS contemplates active development of telematic communications services in the region (M2M): usage of the mobile operator SIM-cards for rapid exchange of information between remote sites of the oil production infrastructure, transfer of sensor readings from the process equipment, as well as determining vehicles location. The agreement involves installation of more than 8,000 SIM-cards for the organization of OAO TATNEFT M2M services.

Sh.F. Takhautdinov, General Director of OAO TATNEFT, emphasized: "A high-quality and reliable partner in the area of telecommunications will allow us to successfully implement the objectives of modernizing and improving business performance, and we have found such a partner in the person of MTS Company. Strong and trusting relationship was established during ten years of cooperation between our two companies that allows us today not only to provide communication for the facilities of TATNEFT, but also to develop communication infrastructure for the whole Republic".
