30% of Moldavians Trust Banking System
OREANDA-NEWS. April 12, 2010. This index has not changed since 2007, according to the poll "Moldova 2009”: Country and People", conducted by IMAS-Inc. The survey shows that most citizens are concerned about the solvency of the banking system.
The only category of citizens, which trust the banks are inhabitants of Chisinau and people with high incomes (above 3000 leis). According to the survey, 54% of the respondents trust local public administration. The trust to the justice, the ability of state to help citizens in case of necessity remains low. 44% of Moldovan citizens believed that the personal safety of members of their families is not guaranteed and only 26% of respondents feel more or less secure.
At the same time, 76% of respondents said that they would like their children or grandchildren to live in Moldova, and only 10% do not want this. 39% of Moldavians would prefer to leave to work abroad. Living in Chisinau are less inclined to emigrate, 42% said they did not wish to emigrate. 51% of all the respondents said that would not leave Moldova, while 22% are yet undecided.
Assessing situation in Moldova, two-thirds of the respondents (66%) considered it as "good" or "very good" and only 16% said that Moldova is a poor or very poor place of the residence. At the same time, the survey shows that in 2009 only 90% of the respondents had access to electricity and TV and only 80% - to the fixed telephony and public transport. More than 60% of the respondents did not have access to hot water, heat, sewerage, Internet, and nearly half of those surveyed do not use natural gas and piped water.
The poll "Moldova 2009: Country and People" was held on October 11-29 2009. As a result, 1,070 people al over the country except for Transnistrian region were surveyed, the possible error made ± 3%.
