RTS Released Stock Market Weekly Trading Results

OREANDA-NEWS. April 09, 2010. Over the week of March 29 – April 2, 2010, the RTS Index went up by 6.22% to reach 1,614.45 points (1,519.87 points as of March 26, 2010). Most of the positive impact on the RTS Index dynamics was related to the growing prices for ordinary shares of Gazprom (GAZPS) (plus 20.97 points), ordinary shares of OJSC "MMC "NORILSK NICKEL" (GMKNS) (plus 13.63 points) and ordinary shares of ОАО "LUKOIL" (LKOHS) (plus 12.40 points).

The RTS Standard Index, the blue chips index, gained 4.97% to reach 10,157.00 points (9,676.07 points as of March 26, 2010). The "second-tier" stock index – RTS-2 experienced an increase of 7.56% closing at 1,901.79 points (1,768.17 points as of March 26, 2010). Last week all the economy sectors represented on the Russian stock market demonstrated an upping trend. The largest growth was reported by the power sector, with the RTS Electric Utilities Index adding 10.00%. A significant increase was also shown by the telecom and oil & gas sectors, with the RTS Telecom Index and RTS Oil & Gas Index gaining 7.87% and 5.82% respectively.

Last week the US dollar depreciated by 0.73% against the ruble to reach 29.44 rubles per US dollar (29.66 rubles as of March 26, 2010).

The total securities trading volume on RTS for the week of March 29 – April 2, 2010 equaled USD14.14 billion (417.37 billion rubles*), including all types of trades. The trading volume on RTS Standard totaled USD1,691.93 million.

The week's top sellers were Sberbank ordinary shares (SBER) with a turnover of USD864.97 million followed by Gazprom ordinary shares (GAZP) with a turnover of USD364.09 million and ordinary shares of ОАО "LUKOIL" (LKOH) with a turnover of USD125.88 million. The share of each security in the total trading volume made up 49.21%, 20.72% and 7.16% respectively.

The week's top gainers were ordinary shares of "Kubanenergo" (KUBE) that went up by 63.64% to USD9 followed by ordinary shares of JSC "OGK-2" (OGKB) – by 27.08% to USD0.061 and ordinary shares of O.J.S.C. "Uralsvyazinform" (URSI) – by 24.36% to reach USD0.04059.

The week's top losers were ordinary shares of "Nizhhnekamskneftekhim" INC (NKNC) that fell 3.01% to reach USD0.55093 followed by ordinary shares of ОАО "Pharmacy Chain 36,6" (APTK) that lost 2.38% to reach USD4.1 and ordinary shares of JSC "LENENERGO" (LSNG) that shed 0.17% to reach USD1.173.
