OREANDA-NEWS. April 06, 2010. OMZ Group had signed a contract with OAO Atomenergoprom for the delivery of bearing ring and spacing ring for units 1 and 2 of the nuclear power plant in Belene (Bulgaria) currently under construction.

The bearing and spacing rings are a part of the reactor equipment and are used to fasten the reactor casing in its place. The equipment will be manufactured at Izhorskiye Zavody, a part of OMZ Group.

Izhorskiye Zavody had started manufacturing the equipment for two Bulgarian nuclear power plant units in the end of 2008, after the contract for reactor casings, upper units equipment and in-vessel components was signed. Besides, in 2009 contracts were signed for the delivery of steam-generator shells, pressure variators, primary circulation pipes, accumulator tanks. Overall, 6.5 thousand tons of equipment is to be delivered.

The first reactor casing is to be manufactured and shipped in December 2011, the second – in September 2012.

Belene nuclear power plant is the largest Russian-Bulgarian project in nuclear power. It involves the construction of two units with Russian-built 1000 MWt water-cooled power reactors.
