OREANDA-NEWS. April 06, 2010. Transaero Airlines, Russia’s second largest passenger airline, responding to significant increase in its key year–on–year operational indicators in the beginning of 2010, decided to expand both its domestic and international route network. In the coming months Transaero plans to launch seven new flights to key destinations, including Beijing in China, Qostanay in Kazakhstan and Yakutsk in the Russian Far East. The company will also launch new routes from St Petersburg to Vladivostok, Khabarovsk, Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk and Petropavlovsk-Kamchatskiy.
Transaero Airlines is currently the largest carrier operating flights from the European part of Russia to the country’s Far East, and the company intends to strengthen its position in this market. After introducing four new routes this May, including regular flights from St Petersburg to Vladivostok (May 21), to Khabarovsk (May 22), to Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk (May 23) and to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatskiy (May 24), Transaero will, for the first time in its history, offer direct flights from St Petersburg to destinations in the Far East region. Moreover, the airline will launch flights from Moscow to Yakutsk on June 24, bringing the total number of destinations served by Transaero from Moscow to the Far East to eight. Participants of the government subsidized transportation program are eligible for travel on all Transaero flights to and from the Far East.
Beginning of scheduled flights from Moscow to Qostanay is another important step in the development of Transaero’s international network. Kazakhstan destinations are a priority for Transaero, which is the largest airline performing flights from Moscow to the country. Qostanay will be the eighth Kazakhstan city to be served by Transaero, in addition to Aktau, Almaty, Astana, Atyrau, Chimkent, Karaganda and Uralsk.
On June 4, 2010 Transaero Airlines, for the first time in its history, will launch regular flights from Moscow to Beijing. During the initial stage, operations between the Russian and Chinese capitals will be performed twice a week on Boeing 747-400 aircraft with the seating capacity of 352 passengers, including the exclusive cabin with the first class service and seats easily transforming into full flat beds.
“The beginning of 2010 marked the notable increase of Transaero’s operational indicators on domestic and international routes. We’ve made a decision to add new destinations in Russia and abroad to our network. We hope passengers will appreciate our new services", said Transaero Airlines General Director Olga Pleshakova.
