OREANDA-NEWS. April 05, 2010. Gazprom VNIIGAZ has held the first meeting of experts of “Natural Gas Vehicles in the UNECE region”, organized by UNECE Committee on Sustainable Energy, initiated by JSC Gazprom and supported by Gazprom VNIIGAZ LLC.

The meeting has brought together experts of JSC Gazprom, Gazprom VNIIGAZ LLC, EON Ruhrgas, EGAS (Egypt), Overgas (Bulgaria), EDF (France), NJSC “Naftogaz of Ukraine”, OMV (Austria), Bauer (Switzerland), as well as representatives of Non-Governmental Ecological Vernadsky Foundation, Hungarian Ministry of Energy, French Embassy in Russia, in total – 29 specialists from 14 countries.

The meeting discussed most efficient ways of UNECE study on “Natural Gas Vehicles in the UNECE region”, in particular, its profoundness, data collection methods, mapping opportunities, processing of financial, technical and environmental data. The participants analyzed the proposed study structure, decided on terms for its development.

UNECE study on “Natural Gas Vehicles” is focused on application of natural gas in the transport sector and prospects of its use not only by motor vehicles, but also aviation, railway and marine vehicles. Successful completion of the study will provide benchmarks for transport sector development in the UNECE region, including the development of necessary technologies.

Initiators of the study are sure that its results will be of significant help for UNECE Member Countries as well as energy companies in making decisions on prospects of natural gas vehicles in the UNECE region.
