OREANDA-NEWS. March 25, 2010. As part of the working visit to the Karachaevo-Cherkessia Republic, Pavel Subbotin, Deputy Head of the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS Russia) was received by Boris Ebzeev, the President of the Republic, as part of his working visit to the Republic.

At the meeting Deputy Head of FAS Russia and the President of Karachaevo-Cherkessia discussed areas of cooperation between the Antimonopoly Service and the top decision-makers of the Republic. Taking about the Karachaevo-Cherkessia OFAS Russia, Pavel Subbotin reminded of the case against "Kavkazregiongaz" Ltd. - the only supplier of natural gas produced by "Gazprom" OJSC in the Republic, which OFAS won again. "This case became a precedent on the national scale. Enforcing compliance of resources-supplying organizations with the law - is one of the main areas of our work", said Mr Subbotin.

Pavel Subbotin supported a proposal of Boris Ebzeev that one of the meetings focusing on methodological issues of antimonopoly enforcement can take place in Karachaevo-Cherkessia, where the Republic would present its proposals for enhancing cooperation with the Antimonopoly Service.

As part of its working visit, Deputy Head of FAS Russia met the Prosecutor of the Republic and discussed cooperation between the law enforcement bodies and the regional office of FAS Russia, and increasing rates for housing and utility services.

Pavel Subbotin also met employees of the Office of the Federal Antimonopoly Service in the Karachaevo-Cherkessia Republic (OFAS Russia) and was informed about cases currently considered by the OFAS. At a meeting with the OFAS employees, Deputy Head of FAS Russia outlined the main priorities of the work of regional offices for 2010 and answered questions, which mostly related to the procedures for assessing performance of regional offices, salaries and legislative changes.

Also Pavel Subbotin made a trip to Arkhyz, where he observed construction works on "Romantik" resort. In 2008 the Karachaevo-Cherkessia OFAS Russia discovered violations by the ordering party of the construction works in organizing auctions and issued a determination to eliminate the violations.
