European bourses are opening up this morning; the UX and PFTS were down slightly, -0.12% for the former and 0.34% for the latter, as of 11:00 this morning. The UX closed down 0.34% to 2,368.41 in yesterday’s session, while the PFTS rose 1.62% to 942.59. Equity turnover on the UX was a strong UAH 105.4 mln and UAH 23.1 mln on the PFTS. Mariupol Heavy Machinery (MZVM UK) was yesterday’s top name on the UX by volume, rising 15.07%. On the interbank FX market, the hryvnya strengthened two kopiyok to UAH/USD 7.91. In political news, President Viktor Yanukovych dispatched Prime Minister Mykola Azarov to Moscow today to sit down with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin and Gazprom chief Alexei Miller – their discussion is expected to include a Ukrainian request for lower natural gas prices, as Yanukovych & Azarov have been promising.
