OREANDA-NEWS. March 25, 2010. DTEK, the leader of the fuel and energy sector in Ukraine, and the National Mining University (the city of Dnepropetrovsk), one of the leading Ukrainian educational institutions, have signed a long-term co-operation contract.

In course of joint work, the Company will be able to adapt the curriculum for the respective majors to meet the demands of the coal mining industry, find the most promising students and invite them to DTEK after graduation. The University, in its turn, will be able to update its courses based on advanced techniques and methods, get a new laboratory basis for practical lessons and provide jobs for the best graduates.

On November 3, 2009, DTEK entered into the similar agreement with Donetsk National Technical University, which train specialists in the Company’s areas.

‘DTEK makes significant investments into the operations modernization, thus, the preparation of employees capable to run new hi-tech equipment is the obvious priority for the Company. DTEK will give the students not only an opportunity to enhance their professional preparation. We will invite the best students to join our team and I believe it will be a good start for their careers. Yet, even those who will not be employed by us in future can significantly improve their chances in the labour market’, said Aleksandr Kucherenko, Deputy HR Director of DTEK.

‘Developed countries traditionally consider investments into science and education the most efficient ones. It is encouraging that Ukrainian big business represented by DTEK has also started to build up systematic co-operation with leading educational establishments, including our university. We hope that the result of our co-operation will be a better research and development basis for us and improved quality of training for our students who will have an opportunity, already when studying at the university, to obtain some practical experience of working with advanced technologies and to take part in R&D works relevant for DTEK’, commented the First Pro-rector of the NMU, Head of Minerals Preparation Chair, Petr Pilov.
