Moldova to Continue Building Partnership with Friendly Nations
OREANDA-NEWS. March 25, 2010. Cabinet of Ministers of Moldova, the meeting is attended by delegation of the Government headed by the Prime Minister Vladimir Filat, as well as representatives of various countries and donor organizations. The Premier thanked donors for their openness to the current authorities, noting that the political, economic and financial support from international financial organizations and donors will have a direct positive effect for the country.
Vladimir Filat noted that Moldova intends to continue building true partnership relations with friendly nations. Vladimir Filat thanked the World Bank and the European Commission for organizing this event as well as expressed his gratitude to the development partners. In his turn, the deputy director general of the Directorate General for External Relations (RELEX) Hugo Mingarelli said that during six months in power Filat’s government has faced several challenges, including economic and political crisis.
He estimated that the new government could quickly sign an agreement with IMF and started stabilizing economic situation. Hugues Mingarelli said that European integration is a strategic priority for Moldova and noted that the current course should be maintained in future. The official noted that Moldova needs support for further development and said that wide presence of donors at the forum is a good signal for the country.
The World Bank Regional Director for Moldova, Belarus and Ukraine Martin Raiser thanked the organizers for their efforts and the participants - for their interest in the event. According to him, the situation in Moldova is difficult, but the country deserves full donor’s support.
