DonRechFlot Starts Navigation on River Don
OREANDA-NEWS. March 23, 2010. DonRechFlot (part of the Azov-Don Shipping Group of companies) first started the navigation on the River Don.
On March 15, 2010 DonRechFlot began operating on the Bagaevka - Rostov - Azov route carrying grain cargoes. To ensure traffic flows the company added three towed barges and three Volga-Don motor ships.
Donrechflot plans to increase this year’s volume of river traffic to 2 million tons. In 2009, the company transported by river more than 1 million tons of various cargoes. The increase was due to optimization of the structure of transportation.
This year mineral fertilizers will be the main freight in the amount of 1.7 million tons. Besides, more than 150.000 tons of steel and 150.000 of containers will be added.
This winter Donrechflot has spent more than 100 million rubles for ship repair program. The company repaired ten dry bulkers. The company said it would maintain other 40 ships on its own repair bases.
The ships operated in this navigation, have been certified by Russian River Registry. In 2010, over 50 vessels will be operated transporting cargoes on inland waterways of capacity ranging from 2000 to 5000 tons.
DonRechFlot was established in 1993. The company provides freight transportation via inland waterways and multimodal shipments by river-sea going vessels. The total deadweight of the company is 236.000 tons.
Azov-Don Shipping Group of companies was founded in 2003. The Group integrates over 20 shipping companies: the two shipping companies, two ports, ship repair firms and non-metallic enterprises and a development company. The Group’s fleet comprises more than 200 vessels for various purposes.
