OREANDA-NEWS. March 23, 2010. Net profit of TransContainer OJSC for 2009 by Russia's Accounting Standards (RAS) decreased as much as 121 times, to 22.101 million rubles, the company statement also said its revenues for the same period totaled 16,3 billion rubles, a 19.2% cutback. The company's assets as of December 31, 2009 were valued at 27.6 billion rubles, or 2.5% higher than that a year earlier.

Reduced income was primarily due to the last year’s decline in traffic volume and lower prices for freight and tariffs for transport services.

The volume of traffic on the fitting platforms of TransContainer OJSC in 2009 fell by 17.6% from the previous year, to 1.24 million TEUs. At the same time the share of TransContainer on the market of railway container traffic in 2009 grew by 3%, up 64% from 61% in 2008. Last year, the company transported in inland traffic 765.000 TEUs and 473.000 TEUs in international traffic.

The terminals of the company handled in 2009 1.46 million TEUs, a 23% decline from the last year’s numbers.

In the crisis year the company continued to implement an investment program aimed at modernization of rolling stock and terminals network. Total investments of the company in 2009 amounted to 3 billion rubles.
