Gomel and Kyiv to Intensify Bilateral Cooperation
OREANDA-NEWS. March 22, 2010. Gomel and Kyiv will intensify the bilateral cooperation, the press service of the Kiev City Administration informed.
During a visit of a delegation of the Gomel Oblast to the Ukrainian capital, the leadership of the Gomel Oblast Executive Committee, the Gomel City Executive Committee, representatives of a number of the leading Gomel-based companies and the leadership of the Solomensky District State Administration of Kyiv discussed the development of the interregional cooperation.
During a meeting with leadership of industrial companies of the Solomensky District including the Kyiv Electric Car Repair Works and the Analitpribor Plant, the sides discussed the creation of joint enterprises.
On the eve of Easter holidays the sides decided to hold a regular fair of Belarusian goods in the Solomensky District. Gomel Mayor Viktor Pilipets proposed to present not only Belarusian food which is in popular demand in Kyiv but Belarusian knitted goods, corsetry, TV sets and refrigerators.
The initiative to expand the bilateral cooperation at the regional level is actively supported by Ivan Sidorov, the Head of the Solomensky District State Administration of Kyiv, Chairman of the Slavonic Peoples Council Public Organization.
Gomel and the Solomensky District of Kyiv signed the cooperation agreement in autumn last year. Within the framework of the agreement, a fair of Belarusian goods has been held in the Ukrainian capital. A delegation of Kyiv visited the Gomel Oblast.
