BMZ Contracts to Deliver OCTG to Venezuela
OREANDA-NEWS. March 19, 2010. Belarusian Steel Works has contracted to deliver oil country tubular goods (OCTG) to Venezuela. The first batch of 5,600 tonnes will shipped by 15 May.
Venezuela will be the company’s second buyer on the American continent. In February the company shipped 2,000 tonnes of well casing pipes for the USA oil industry. The buyer, Tejas Casing Ltd, did not inspect the company as is the practice, expecting high quality from BMZ products. If the pipes perform well, the company will be able to ship up to 5,000 tonnes of pipes to the USA monthly.
Apart from that, in Q1 2010 Belarusian Steel Works will deliver 1,000 tonnes of special oil and gas industry pipes to the Russian oil company Rosneft. The pipes will be used for overhauling oil wells.
Since the company commissioned its pipe rolling facility in July 2007, it has started manufacturing 544 pipe profiles and four pipe designations. At present pipes for oil and gas industry make up 50% of the output while pipes used in mechanical engineering account for 35%.
The company’s marketing office told BelTA, they are busy working out a business plan to start manufacturing oil-well tubing for oil industry. These pipes will have threads for joining pipes in oil wells and sleeves.
