OREANDA-NEWS. March 18, 2010. The bank’s General Manager Ilinca Rosetti said at the press conference Tuesday that the first in the country financial company Micro Enterprise Credit (MEC) – Moldova had started activity in Moldova on December 16, 1999.

It was oriented on microcrediting of private entrepreneurs. In July 2004, the company was renamed into the ProCredit by the shareholders’ decision. On December 17, 2007, the license was received and ProCreditBank was opened becoming the only bank opened in Moldova for the last 10 years. At the moment of the bank’s opening, as of December 31, 2007, ProCredit’s credit portfolio amount4ed to 420 million leis, the average amount of the credit – 27.5 thousand leis, the company was serving 13.1 thousand clients.

Ilinca Rosetti said the fact that the bank doesn’t promote consumer credits as they lead to the growth of population’s debt and don’t contribute to the population’s development is one of the ProCredit’s activity principles. On the contrary, the bank promotes the savings growth policy for clients being sure that the savings culture is the basis for creation of the stable society. ProCredit Bank in Moldova is the international bank with the 100% foreign capital (ProCredit Holding AG, Germany – 81.92%, KfW, Germany – 11.99%, Stiching DOEN (DOEN Foundation), Netherlands – 6.09%). 620 employees currently work in 26 branch offices and head office of the bank.

As of 31 December 2009, ProCredit Bank’s credit portfolio amounted to 395.6 million leis, the average amount of the credit – 58.9 thousand leis, the bank serves 17.1 thousand client with half of them being legal entities and other half – individuals, the volume of deposits totaled 258 million leis, the average amount of the deposit – about 13 thousand leis; the bank has 24.6 thousand accounts opened. ProCredit Holding is 22 financial organizations in 22 countries with the total amount of assets of 5 billion euros.
