OREANDA-NEWS. On 17, March 2010, the first International Logistics Centre of Education and Research in Russia will be opened in St Petersburg, reported the press-centre of Russian Railways.

The Centre is part of St Petersburg State University’s Graduate School of Management and is a joint project between Russian Railways and Deutsche Bahn Schenker AG. It will create and provide study programmes and conduct research projects in international logistics and delivery chain management.

Taking part in the opening of the Centre will be Russian Railways President Vladimir Yakunin and Deutsche Bahn CEO Rudiger Grube, as well as representatives from the European Business School (EBS), St Petersburg State University’s Graduate School of Management, the St Petersburg State Railway University and the St Petersburg city administration, as well as Russian and German business representatives.

Vladimir Yakunin and Rudiger Grube will give 45-minute lectures in English to the Centre’s students and teaching staff before answering questions from journalists. Mr. Yakunin will also deliver a report on "The Role of Logistics in Developing Railway transportation in Russia."
