Svetlogorsk Khimvolokno Awarded Oeko-Tex Standard 100 Certificate
OREANDA-NEWS. March 11, 2010. Svetlogorsk-based Khimvolokno Production Association was awarded Oeko-Tex Standard 100 international ecological certificate (Product Class I).
The certificate guarantees that the non-woven AquaSpun and SpunBel made by Khimvolokno do not pose any risk to health and can be used to manufacture all kinds of hygiene goods (pampers, cosmetic packs, wet wipes, etc). Oeko-Tex Standard 100 means that the products made from AquaSpun and SpunBel are ecologically safe. Product Class I features the products for babies.
In November 2009 Khimvolokno commissioned the equipment to make a new material labeled as AquaSpun. It has special breaking strength, softness and high indicators of tactile comfort close to the properties of natural cotton.
This is the second certificate that the company has received. Khimvolokno has also qualified to mark its polyether textile fibers and textile goods made of them with the Oeko-Tex Standard 100 label.
Winning the right to mark the products with the Oeko-Tex Standard 100 label (Product Class I – products for babies) unlocks almost all markets for Khimvolokno.
The Oeko-Tex Standard 100 is a globally uniform testing and certification system for textile raw materials, intermediate and end products at all stages of production. There are currently over 9,000 textile and clothing manufacturers in more than 80 countries certified according to the Oeko-Tex Standard 100. The International Oeko-Tex Association is a group of 15 well-known textile research and test institutes in Europe and Japan, with representative agencies and contact offices in over 30 countries worldwide.
Founded in 1964, Svetlogorsk-based Khimvolokno is one of the biggest companies of the Belarusian petrochemical industry. The plants of the company produce polyester textile fiber, synthetic fiber, carbon and polymeric materials, consumer goods. Khimvolokno exports its products to 40 countries.
