OREANDA-NEWS. March 11, 2010. In the Grand Hall of the Government of Karelia there took place the ceremony of signing of the Agreement between the Government, Administration of local self-government of Kondopoga region and Kondopoga, Inc. Head of the Republic of Karelia Sergey Katanandov has conducted the ceremony. Prime Minister of the Government of Karelia Pavel Chernov and Vice Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of the Republic Gennady Nechayev have taken part in it.

Opening the ceremony Head of the Republic said:

This is the first time in the history of work of the Government of Karelia when this event is held in such format, and there is no coincidence. Here to sign the agreement we have invited one of the most famous in Russia and the best in Karelia enterprise. We live in a very complex period. However, it not the first complex period in our work. I remember the year 1998 when all industrial enterprises in Karelia were stopped or were on the verge of a stop. Except for one – Kondopoga, Inc., which worked itself, and also keep the republic afloat. In the current crisis situation Kondopoga, Inc., was the best that worked last year. In the economy of Russia very serious recession was observed in all directions. There are not so many enterprises in the country which have nanaged to keep production and to increase it. Kondopoga, Inc., has managed it! It inspites respect and a with to thank for the work…

The practice of signing agreements with large enterprises is the know-how of Karelian Government in overcoming the crisis phenomena. Last year such agreements were signed with all leaders of Karelian economy. They define the order of joint anti-recessionary actions. The Government guaranteed enterprises certain measures of support, and they, in turn, have to fulfil some economic and social obligations. Implementation of agreements has allowed to both stabilize work of enterprises, and to admit no employment layoffs, crash in social sphere of cities and regions where these enterprises work. Results of 2009 have shown that such practice has appeared rather effective: as a whole slump in production in Karelia is much less than on the average on Russia. However, Kondopoga, Inc., has fulfilled conditions of the agreement most completely and consistently.

Today Kondopoga, Inc., makes about 40% of the all-Russian production of newprint, 85% of production is exported. In 2009 production volume of newprint of Kondopoga, Inc., has made 748,8 thousand tons, or 101.5% to the level of 2008, the volume of export of newprint from Karelia has grown by 5.2%. In the crisis year the enterprise has preserved the employees of enterprise: today it provides work for 7,5 thousand people, pays wages in due time – on the average more than 20 thousand roubles, has no arrears of tax payment.

In 2009 the enterprise has continued implementation of the Plan of production modernization and reconstruction, development of objects of social industry and construction engineering. The volume of investments of the enterprise in 2009 has made more than 900 million roubles, funds were assigned to continue reconstruction of Thermal Power Plant-1, capacities of the enterprise, as well as for the social sphere. The enterprise supports municipal budgetary structures, assists in accomplishment of the town and its region, helps educational institutions, maintains beautiful objects of infrastructure, such as the Ice Palace and the Palace of Culture. The Director General of the enterprise Vladimir Bibilov, Head of Administration of Kondopoga region Valery Bessonov, representatives of public and trade unions spoke about it at the ceremony.

In the solemn atmosphere Sergey Katanandov, Vladimir Bibilov and Valery Bessonov have signed the tripartite Agreement for 2010. The same as before, the Agreement provides cooperation of the parties on implementation of coordinated activities in the context of financial and economic crisis directed on preservation of social stability at the enterprise and minimization of social consequences of the crisis.
