OREANDA-NEWS. March 09, 2010. A working meeting was held at the Gazprom headquarters between Alexander Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Company’s Management Committee and Milorad Dodik, Prime Minister of the Republika Srpska.

The parties negotiated the cooperation in the gas supply area, the possible participation of the Republika Srpska in the South Stream project, as well as oil fields development in the Republika. The meeting also outlined further steps aimed at the cooperation deepening.
Background

The Republika Srpska is a political entity of Bosnia and Herzegovina which was one of the republics of the former Yugoslavia.

For the purpose of diversifying gas export routes, Gazprom is going to construct a gas pipeline (South Stream project) through the Black Sea to Southern and Central Europe.

It is projected that the offshore section will run across the Black Sea bottom from the Beregovaya compressor station on the Russian coast to the Bulgarian coast. The pipeline’s total length will average 900 kilometers, the maximum depth – over 2 kilometers.

The annual throughput capacity of the offshore section of the South Stream will reach 63 billion cubic meters.

Intergovernmental Agreements were signed with Bulgaria, Serbia, Hungary, Greece, Slovenia and Croatia in order to construct the onshore section abroad. The relevant document is planned to be signed with Austria.
