OREANDA-NEWS. March 09, 2010. The country’s government informs that today Azerbaijan has capacity of painless export of at least 1 bn kWh a year.

“With development of generating capacities this potential is able to increase up to 2-5 bn kWh. In this connection the country has already started and is going to stimulate further development of export transmitting capacities,” a government source said.

Such countries as Russia, Iran, Georgia, and Turkey are being considered as perspective directions for power export of Azerbaijan. Theoretically Azerbaijan is also able to enter markets of the European Union countries and first of all at the expense of swap with Turkey.
