RTS Released February Stock Market Trading Results

OREANDA-NEWS. March 3, 2010. In February 2010 the RTS Index went down by 4.27% to 1,410.85 points as of February 27, 2010 against 1,473.81 points as of January 29, 2010. Most of the negative impact on the RTS Index dynamics was coming from the declining prices for Sberbank ordinary shares (SBERS) (minus 30.76 points), followed by ordinary shares of Gazprom (GAZPS) (minus 19.55 points) and ordinary shares of ОАО "LUKOIL" (LKOHS) (minus 10.45 points).

The RTS Standard Index, the blue chips index, lost 6.85% to reach 9,154.18 points (9,827.37 points as of January 29, 2010). The "second-tier" stock index – RTS-2 Index gained 4.51% to reach 1,572.03 points (1,504.12 points as of January 29, 2010). Key economy sectors represented on the Russian stock market showed a mixed trend. The largest growth was demonstrated by the industrial sector, with the RTS Industrial Index adding 9.76%. A significant rise was reported by the telecom sector, with the RTS Telecom Index rising by 6.70%. The largest decrease was experienced by the oil & gas sector: the RTS Oil & Gas Index lost 4.48%.

In February the US dollar depreciated by 1.07% against the Russian ruble to reach 30.04 rubles per US dollar (30.36 rubles as of January 29, 2010).

In February 2010 the securities trading volume on RTS equaled USD40.9 billion (1,234.6 billion rubles*), including all types of trades. The trading volume on RTS Standard totaled USD7,258.40 million.

The top sellers of the month on the RTS Stock Market were Sberbank ordinary shares (SBER) with a turnover of USD3,814.8 million followed by Gazprom ordinary shares (GAZP) with a turnover of USD1,771.6 million and ОАО "LUKOIL" ordinary shares (LKOH) with a turnover of USD485.0 million. The share of the above securities in the turnover made up 50.76%, 23.57% and 6.45% respectively.

The top gainers of the month were ordinary shares of JSC "UAC" (UNAC) that experienced a growth of 43.38% to reach USD0.0195, ordinary shares of "VSMPO-AVISMA Corporation" (VSMO) that went up by 41.25% to reach USD113 and ordinary shares of OJSC LSR Group (LSRG) that gained 26.67% to end up at USD30.4 per share.

The top losers of the month were ordinary shares of NLMK (NLMK) that lost 22.29% to reach USD2.72, ordinary shares of JSC Gazprom Neft (SIBN) that went down by 18.78% to reach USD4.67 and ordinary shares of AO MOSENERGO (MSNG) that decreased by 14.75% to USD0.104.
