RTS Released Stock Market Weekly Trading Results

OREANDA-NEWS. March 1, 2010. Over the week of February 15 – February 19, 2010, the RTS Index went up by 4.35% to reach 1,423.13 points (1,363.83 points as of February 12, 2010). Most of the positive impact on the RTS Index dynamics was related to the growing prices for ordinary shares of Gazprom (CAZPS) (plus 11.59 points) followed by ordinary shares of ОАО "LUKOIL" (LKOHS) (plus 9.59 points) and ordinary shares of OJSC "OC "Rosneft" (ROSNS) (plus 8.25 points).

The RTS Standard Index, the blue chips index, added 3.92% to reach 9,352.65 points (8,999.47 points as of February 12, 2010). The "second-tier" stock index – RTS-2 experienced an increase of 2.17% closing at 1,532.05 points (1,499.57 points as of February 12, 2010). Last week all the key economy sectors represented on the Russian stock market demonstrated a positive trend. The largest growth was reported by the metals & mining sector, with the RTS Metals & Mining Index gaining 5.82%. A significant increase was also shown by the oil & gas, with the RTS Oil & Gas Index going up by 5.58%. The slightest growth was demonstrated by the telecom sector, with the RTS Telecom Index climbing 1.39%.

Last week the US dollar depreciated by 0.04% against the ruble to reach 30.11 rubles per US dollar (30.12 rubles as of February 12, 2010).

The total securities trading volume on RTS for the week February 15 – February 19, 2010 equaled USD10.01 billion (304.03 billion rubles*), including all types of trades. The trading volume on RTS Standard totaled USD1,815.53 million.

The week's top sellers were Sberbank ordinary shares (SBER) with a turnover of USD983.35 million followed by Gazprom ordinary shares (GAZP) with a turnover of USD392.30 million and ordinary shares of ОАО "LUKOIL" (LKOH) with a turnover of USD110.56 million. The share of each security in the total trading volume made up 53.07%, 21.17% and 5.97% respectively.

The week's top gainers were ordinary shares of "VSMPO-AVISMA Corporation" (VSMO) that went up by 19.57% to USD110 followed by ordinary shares of PJSC Belon (BLNG) – by 13.58% to USD0.778 and ordinary shares of ОАО "Pharmacy Chain 36,6" (APTK) – by 13.00% to reach USD3.39.

The week's top losers were ordinary shares of OJSC Uralkali (URKA) that fell 4.71% to reach USD4.25 followed by ordinary shares of JSC "OGK-4" (OGKD) that lost 4.13% to reach USD0.058 and ordinary shares of OJSC Kuzbassenergo (KZBE) that shed 3.75% to reach USD0.0077.
