Cognac Production in Moldova Decreased by 38,6%
OREANDA-NEWS. March 01, 2010. Production of wines in Moldova in January 2010 totaled 63 million leis (USD4.9 million), up 12.2% in comparison with January 2009. Wine production made up 3.9% of the total industrial production volume in the reporting period, it was informed at the National Statistics Office.
Production of distilled alcoholic drinks in January 2010 in the cost value increased by 39.9% (1.6% of the total industrial production volume), making up 18.4 million leis (USD 1.44 million). As it was reported earlier, wine production in Moldova in 2009 reduced in cost value by 21.2% in comparison with the year of 2008 – to 1 billion 613.6 million leis.
Production of distilled alcoholic drinks in Moldova for the same period of time reduced in cost value by 17.1% - TO 423.4 million leis.
Experts say production of alcohol production reduced in 2009 due to the global economic crisis.
In natural terms, Moldova produced 430.8 thousand deciliters of cognac in 2009, down 38.6% in comparison with 2008. Moldova also decreased natural grape wines production in January-December 2009 by 22.7% in comparison with the same period of 2008 – to 9 million 981.8 thousand deciliters, and production of sparkling wines – by 16.8% - to 476.1 thousand deciliters.
