SOCAR: Demand for Rise of Shah Deniz Gas Production Lacks
OREANDA-NEWS. March 01, 2010. SOCAR president Rovnag Abdullayev says that currently demand for production increase is lacking.
“Demand for gas declined. But we hope that all the gas recipients within the First Stage of hah Deniz Project will agree on volumes stipulated within the contract, for instance, Turkey will get 6.6 bn cu m,” Abdullayev said.
BP-led AIOC consortium, the partnership on Shah Deniz Project, has announced of plans to produce this year 7.6 bn cu m of gas versus last year’s real level of 6.2 bn cu m.
“7.6 bn cu m is quite good result for production for a year,” said in his turn Vagif Aliyev, the head of the SOCAR Investment Department.
He added that gas demand dropped throughout the world and for gas of Russia’s Gazprom which observes gas demand fall much larger than Azerbaijan.
