ArcelorMittal Implements New Technology of Abrasive Blasting
OREANDA-NEWS. February 27, 2010. The implementation of the new technology of the abrasive blasting using German equipment DBS-200 RC "Contracor" began in the shop of steel structures of the Mechanical Repairs Complex of OJSC "ArcelorMittal Kryviy Rih". This new technology is a part of the technical modernisation program at the enterprise and it is yet another step towards complete steel structures production cycle.
The abrasive blasting instrument can work with any kind of abraser (sand, sullage, steel grit and hot metal grit, granite chips, corundum, wire chaff, etc). The high operation resistance is achieved by applying the sand-blasting nozzle made of the tungsten carbide. Among the additional advantages of the new equipment are the low pressed air consumption and continuous exploitation of the instrument without refueling for up to 8 hours.
“The new abrasive blasting instrument ensures German quality and efficient production, it is easy to use,” - said Mikhail Guzhov, the Head of steel structures shop. – “It brings the new level of the decontaminating, corrosion, oxide scale and grease marks abrading in the process of the steel structures production. Features like dashpot for the exhaust air, filter-separator and the complete set of the safety equipment ensure European quality of metal structures. The abrasive blasting is also comfortable and safe in operating, which is very important as safety is one of the top priorities at ArcelorMittal worldwide”.
